Shop drawing management software
Shop drawing management software for submittal review
Shop drawings move fast and change often. BuildRevu keeps each drawing on one numbered record, tracks each revision in sequence, and captures the review markups and the approval code that governs it.
Typical shop drawing problems
- A contractor resubmits before the previous revision has been decided.
- Redlines are made on a downloaded copy that never returns to the register.
- Several reviewers give different codes and nobody knows which one applies.
- Fabrication starts against a revision that was only approved with comments.
How the review runs
Submission against a document number
Contractors submit into an existing numbered record, so revisions accumulate in one place.
In-browser PDF redlining
Clouds, arrows, text notes and threaded comment pins, saved on the revision rather than on a local copy.
Reviewer allocation by discipline
Reviewers are allocated per revision, with the responsible manager recording the governing decision.
Worst status wins
Where reviewers disagree, the most conservative outcome governs the revision.
Resubmission gate
A new revision cannot be opened while the previous one is still under review.
Stamped reviewed copy
Download the redlined copy with a QR stamp — blue for approved outcomes, red for revise and resubmit or rejected.

Start with the whole project position, then open the exact workspace behind each figure. Documents retain their revision, redline and approval history; progress, quality, safety and handover use the same controlled-record principle.
Common questions
- What do the A, B, C and D codes mean?
- A is approved, B is approved with comments, C is revise and resubmit and D is rejected. Where more than one reviewer responds, the most conservative code governs.
- Can we submit CAD files alongside the PDF?
- Yes. A PDF is required for review, and DWG or model files can be submitted with it and downloaded by reviewers.
- Are markups preserved after approval?
- Yes. Once a revision closes, its markups and decisions are locked and remain downloadable as a stamped copy.
