Construction document management software
Construction document management software with a controlled register
Document control fails when the register, the review and the decision live in three different places. BuildRevu holds the document number, every revision, the comments and the final status on one record.
What email and spreadsheets cannot do
- Two people hold different files that both claim to be the current revision.
- Revision history is spread across message threads and cannot be reconstructed.
- There is no record of who reviewed a submission, or on which version they commented.
- Nothing prevents a new revision being issued while the last one is still under review.
How document control works
Immutable document numbers
Numbers follow a standard project-organization-type-discipline-serial format and never change once issued.
Sequential revisions
R0, R1, R2 in order, with a database-level gate on opening a new revision before the current one closes.
Reviewer opinions kept separate
Reviewers record their opinion; the responsible manager records the decision. Both are stored, with who, when and on which file.
A/B/C/D outcomes
Approved, approved with comments, revise and resubmit, or rejected — with the most conservative outcome governing where several reviewers disagree.
Discipline and status filters
Filter the register by organization, document type, discipline and status to see exactly what is outstanding.
Stamped and verifiable copies
Download the submitted file, the redlined reviewed copy and a close-out report, each carrying a QR code back to the record.

Start with the whole project position, then open the exact workspace behind each figure. Documents retain their revision, redline and approval history; progress, quality, safety and handover use the same controlled-record principle.
Common questions
- What is construction document control?
- It is the discipline of making sure every drawing and document has one identifier, one current revision and a recorded approval decision, so the project can always prove what was issued and what was approved.
- Can we import an existing document register?
- Yes. Registers can be imported from multi-sheet Excel files and exported again for reporting.
- Are approvals auditable?
- Every reviewer opinion and manager decision is stored against the revision it relates to and cannot be edited once the revision is closed.
